Hi, i have a weird problem.
It’s a Dell R300 with Debian 6.
The perc 6/i controller isn’t found, so i run “modprobe mptctl”
Now mpt-status shows up the harddisks.

But when I restart with “/etc/init.d/dataeng restart” I can’t reach the server anymore. Ping, Webmin, OSMA. nothing works.

Has anyone a hint?
How can I start the “modprobe mptctl” before starting “dataeng”?

I got it installed properly and I can view the open manage on the server. The issue that I am running into is that my dell it assistant isn’t seeing it. Any thoughts on why not? It can connect with snmp through the dell ita troubleshooting.

For those with login probs… it took me a while to realize this was all hooked-up to PAM so I just used the root login/pwd. I think the “admin” account parms are ignored.

Hi i have the Same Problem like Marc.
I changed the iws.ini but i can’t login… Does anyone know why?

I have the same trouble on my PE860.
I have SAS RAID controller et it does not recognised.

I install mpt-status to show information, but I can not see SAS controller on the web interface.

I install OMSA 5.5.

I edited the /opt/dell/srvadmin/iws/config/iws.ini to something other then Admin/admin, but I can not log in into the web-interface.

IT works (v5.5) for me on 2650 with Ubuntu 7.04 (feisty)

Matt, I have the same problem. I’m using a Dell R300 server with Debian Lenny. When I try to restart the dataeng, something goes wrong with the networking. If I have someone restart the networking, I can connect again (ssh). Another odd thing is that nothing shows up under storage. It doesn’t show the SAS RAID controller. I have installed this on 3 other dells and it worked fine. The others were 2650 and 2950 servers.

Did you find any solution to this?

Maybe you could had the following line in the pre-requisite section :

# wget http://ftp.sara.nl/debian_sara.asc -O – | apt-key add -

to get rid of ” WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!”.

the installation of this works perfectly, thanks
however when i restart the dell open manage applications, or on first start after install of the dellomsa my NICs freeze or get disabled. no idea why this is happening
anyone else getting this?
